New Destinations is a unique Day Service Provider as we focus on adults with learning disabilities for the older age group 30 years plus. We do this by providing a warm friendly and sociable space full of activities chosen by our members (clients) to meet their individual needs and interests.

Our aims:

We have worked to develop our service and focus on four key strands of an

individuals; life - Personal Needs/Interests, Physical Health and Mental

Wellbeing and Social activities. 

At the centre of this will be an exploration of each service user’s individual needs and wants.

Strand 1: 

Personal Interest/ Needs: For individuals based on their assessed

needs, this will happen through their individual need’s assessments and

creation of a person-centred plan.

Strand 2 Health:

Our physical activities such as Tai Chi, Chair Based Exercise

service, dance movement classes, boxercise and outdoor walks will enhance participants physical health and fitness as all the evidence suggests this will also positively improve their mental well-being.

Strand 3 Well-being: 

Learning new skills or enhancing existing skills through

our services will breed a sense of achievement, capability and increasing

confidence. A key aspect will be to involve service users (supported by staff

members) in the organising of activities and events to help build new-found

confidence. Through afternoon music sessions and our gardening/ growing

fruit & vegetables on our allotment.

Strand 4 Social

Attending and participating in the New Destinations Day service is focused on building and broadening relationships. This is the core aspect that gives any life proper meaning. This will be addressed through scheduled activities in our day service as well as social lunches and outings.
